The Medical English Programme was first launched in 2023, equipping participants with the language and communication skills necessary for success in healthcare settings. Building on the achievements of the first intake, a second cohort will commence in October 2025.

Programme Overview
The Medical English Programme 2025 is an 11-week virtual course designed to enhance English communication skills specifically for healthcare professionals. Sessions focus on practical language use in clinical settings, integrating terminology, patient communication, and professional interactions. Classes are conducted by competent trainers to ensure a positive learning experience and are supported with high-quality teaching materials. This programme equips participants to communicate effectively and confidently in medical environments.
Programme Objectives
Improve learners’ knowledge and their ability to understand medical terms and communicate instructions using clear English phrases.
Communicate with English-speaking patients. Manage patient inquiries, registrations, appointment bookings, admission and discharge procedures in English.
Give clear instructions on medications, pre- and post-surgery care, and answer patient questions with confidence.
Strengthen workplace communication in English for reporting, teamwork, and shift handovers.
Understand international interview processes, present yourself confidently in English, and get ready to explore overseas career opportunities.
Who Should Attend
This course is recommended for Chinese-speaking individuals who work in the healthcare industry (Healthcare workers, nurses, nursing students, etc.) and wish to improve their English communication skills.
Programme Schedule
Programme Timeline: 14 October 2025 to 26 December 2025
Every Tuesday and Thursday 3.30PM - 5.30PM (2 hours per lesson)
Delivery Methods
Online lessons are available for both local (Singapore) and overseas students. Physical classes at Chongqing Raffles Hospital will only be conducted if there are at least 10 students.
Certification
At the end of the training, students who attend at least 80% of lessons and pass the final exam will receive a Certificate of Completion and a Certificate of Attendance. Those who do not meet these requirements will receive only a Certificate of Attendance.
